Overview

I’m partnered with a rapidly growing aerospace and defense technology company developing advanced hardware systems for national security and commercial missions. The team is scaling quickly and looking for a hands-on Head of Operations to help build the infrastructure, systems, and processes needed to support that growth.

Role Summary

This person will oversee all core operational functions and work closely with the leadership team to drive efficiency, structure, and long-term scalability. The ideal candidate has helped grow a hardware startup from around 100 to 300+ employees, ideally within the aerospace, defense, or deep-tech sector. This is an onsite position based in Los Angeles.

Key Responsibilities

Build and improve company-wide systems for planning, budgeting, and execution
Manage supply chain, vendor, and contract operations
Oversee compliance programs (ITAR, EAR, and other defense-related certifications)
Lead facility operations, including expansion planning and site management
Develop dashboards and KPIs to improve visibility and decision-making
Partner with leadership across engineering, manufacturing, and operations.

Requirements

10–12 years of experience in operations, strategy, or business management within aerospace, defense, or advanced hardware
Proven experience scaling a startup from roughly 100 to 300+
Strong understanding of government contracts and compliance frameworks
Data-driven, hands-on leader comfortable working in fast-moving environments
Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills
