Job Responsibilities:
- Performs clinical assignments within scope of practice to maximize patient experience and ensure patient safety.
- Promotes and facilitates the compliance and understanding of Joint Commission, NYS DOH, Infection Control and all regulatory standards.
- Under the direction of a provider or RN, educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
- Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to UHS Hospitals policy.
- Maintains CLIA Waived Lab standards and performs CLIA Waived Lab testing and proficiency validations according to regulatory standards. Includes tri annual AAFP Lab Proficiency testing, lab quality controls and lab credentialing if required by department.
- Collaborates with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities, reviews PI data and assists in the development of Performance Improvement plans.
- Participates in educational opportunities
Work Environment
- The work is usually performed in an office setting. Occasionally, there may be exposure to the risks and hazards of work environments and conditions requiring special safety precautions and clothing.
