Segrera Associates is partnering with a supply chain and logistics company that is looking for a Director of Purchasing. The Director of Purchasing will lead the company’s strategic sourcing, procurement operations, and vendor management functions across multiple business units. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing purchasing strategies that optimize cost, ensure supply continuity, and align with the company’s operational and financial goals. The ideal candidate is a data-driven leader with deep experience in large-scale supply chain operations, strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier performance management.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive purchasing strategy that supports corporate objectives related to cost optimization, supplier diversity, and operational efficiency.
- Procurement Management: Oversee all purchasing activities, including sourcing, contract negotiation, and purchasing operations for materials, equipment, and services.
- Vendor and Supplier Relations: Establish and maintain strong supplier partnerships, negotiate favorable terms, and manage vendor performance through KPIs, scorecards, and continuous improvement programs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with logistics, operations, finance, and supply chain planning teams to ensure alignment of purchasing strategies with production schedules and customer demand.
- Process Optimization: Implement best-in-class procurement systems and processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and transparency across the purchasing function.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate supply chain risks related to supplier dependency, pricing volatility, and geopolitical or regulatory changes.
- Budget and Cost Control: Develop annual purchasing budgets, monitor spend against targets, and deliver measurable cost savings without compromising quality or service.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of purchasing professionals across multiple sites or divisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; MBA
- 10+ years of progressive procurement or supply chain experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity within a large, multi-site organization.
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiation, and contract management in a high-volume, complex logistics or manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, financial, and project management skills; experience with ERP and procurement systems
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to drive cost savings and operational improvements through data-driven decision-making.
