Position Summary
The Vice President of Operations is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for driving operational excellence across Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacturing. This role provides strategic direction, leadership, and vision to ensure operational efficiency, cost control, product quality, and continuous improvement throughout the organization. The VP of Operations partners closely with the CEO and other executives to execute company strategy, scale operations, and deliver sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with corporate goals and growth objectives.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration between engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
- Establish KPIs and performance metrics to measure operational success, quality, and efficiency.
- Drive initiatives that improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance profitability.
Procurement & Supply Chain
- Oversee procurement strategy, supplier negotiations, and vendor relationship management.
- Ensure a reliable, cost-effective, and ethical global supply chain.
- Manage sourcing, materials planning, and inventory control processes.
- Implement strategies for risk mitigation and supplier performance improvement.
Engineering & Product Development
- Direct engineering teams in developing innovative, manufacturable, and cost-efficient products.
- Partner with R&D and design to ensure smooth transition from concept to production.
- Promote standardization, design-for-manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement in engineering processes.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and quality standards in product development.
Manufacturing & Production
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations, ensuring optimal production schedules, equipment utilization, and throughput.
- Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies across plants.
- Maintain high safety and quality standards across all facilities.
- Lead capital investment planning, plant expansions, and automation initiatives.
Team Leadership
- Build and lead a high-performing operations leadership team.
- Coach, mentor, and develop department heads to enhance leadership capability and succession readiness.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Management, or related field required. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: 10–15 years of progressive leadership experience in operations within a manufacturing, industrial, or engineering-driven organization.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple departments, including procurement, engineering, and manufacturing.
- Proven track record of implementing Lean/Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, capital expenditures, and operational KPIs.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to lead transformation, manage change, and align teams toward strategic goals.
