Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego’s campus includes the O’Toole Breast Care Center, a 24-hour emergency room that is a Level I Trauma Center, outpatient physical rehabilitation, minimally invasive robotic surgery and our childbirth unit (including a Level II neonatal intensive care unit).

Role Overview: Supervisor, Patient Care RN – Substance Use Disorder as the Supervisor of the Substance Use Disorder unit at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego, you will lead a dedicated team committed to providing high-quality care for patients on their recovery journey. In this role, you’ll ensure that nursing practices align with the highest standards of care and foster a culture of safety and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Patient Care Manager to provide leadership for the unit, overseeing daily staffing and ensuring optimal patient care.
- Lead efforts to improve patient flow, bed placement, and transitions of care using cutting-edge technology.
- Ensure seamless patient hand-offs between levels of care and actively involve nursing staff in planning and coordination.
- Promote a patient-centered approach to care while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for both staff and patients.

Required Education/Experience/Skills
- Minimum of two years of applicable clinical RN experience, with at least one year in a leadership role.
- Exceptional skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, and strategic planning.
- Proven ability to effectively manage responsibilities within the scope of the organization and the complexities of patient care.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Required Certification/Registration
- Active California RN license.
- Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
- Completion of all competencies and certifications required for the Charge RN role on the unit.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills/Certifications
- BSN or specialty certification in the relevant area.
