The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for overseeing all manufacturing operations, including the development and implementation of strategic manufacturing plans, managing production processes, and ensuring product quality and efficiency. This role combines the duties of a Production Manager with higher-level executive responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic manufacturing plans to enhance efficiency, productivity, and profitability
- Collaborate with other executives to align manufacturing strategies with overall business goals
- Oversee all aspects of production and maintenance
- Ensure efficient and effective use of resources, including labor, materials, and equipment
- Manage work orders, inventory, routing of instruments, and production standards
- Coordinate with Sales and Engineering Departments for work instructions and customer requirements
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes and reduce costs
- Stay informed about the latest manufacturing technologies and industry trends
- Manage and develop manufacturing leadership teams and staff
- Mentor and guide subordinates, including department supervisors
- Ensure products meet quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements
- Uphold and enforce health and safety protocols across all manufacturing operations
- Oversee the manufacturing budget, including cost analysis and control
- Monitor and report on manufacturing performance metrics
- Communicate with stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and other business partners
- Represent the manufacturing division in executive meetings and external events
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant field; extensive experience in metal CNC contract manufacturing management environment; Preferably in Orthopedic Instruments & Implants
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams
- Strong ability to develop and implement strategic plans
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
