About the Role:
The company is seeking a forward-thinking VP of Factory Design to lead the full lifecycle of gigafactory development—from initial design through to execution. This leader will develop state-of-the-art, automated, and digitally integrated manufacturing systems modeled after the world’s most advanced production environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and construction of multiple gigafactories across North America
- Develop modular, scalable factory blueprints with a strong focus on automation, robotics, and digital twin integration
- Collaborate with automation vendors, robotics integrators, and EPC partners to deliver cutting-edge facilities
- Define factory layout, process flow, and equipment selection for optimized performance and throughput
- Build and lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, and project managers
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
- Align factory capabilities with company product and operational strategies through cross-functional collaboration
Qualifications:
- 15+ years in advanced manufacturing, with at least 5 years leading large-scale factory design
- Experience designing or operating high-volume production facilities or gigafactories (e.g., in energy, automotive, or tech)
- Expertise in automation, robotics, MES systems, and digital twin technologies
- Demonstrated ability to deliver complex capital projects on time and within budget
- International experience and the ability to work across cultures
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; advanced degree preferred
