Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Registered Nurse to join a busy ambulatory clinic setting. This role involves providing high-quality, family-centered nursing care to pediatric patients ranging from newborns to adolescents. The RN will assess, plan, and implement care for both acute and chronic pediatric conditions while collaborating closely with providers and multidisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include administering immunizations per CDC and state guidelines, monitoring for adverse reactions, supporting well-child visits, coordinating follow-up care, and performing routine screenings and diagnostic procedures. The RN will manage prior authorizations for medications, specialty referrals, imaging, and therapies, and maintain compliance with pediatric infection control standards. Strong PALS skills are essential for responding to pediatric emergencies. This role requires adaptability, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in electronic health record documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive, developmentally appropriate nursing care in an outpatient pediatric setting
- Administer and document vaccines following required schedules
- Conduct well-child assessments, safety screenings, and follow-up outreach
- Perform routine pediatric procedures (vitals, hearing/vision, POCT, specimen collection, etc.)
- Coordinate prior authorizations for referrals, treatments, and diagnostics
- Ensure accurate and timely EHR documentation of all patient encounters
- Collaborate with providers, specialists, and families to support continuity of pediatric care
- Provide caregiver education on prevention, chronic condition management, and medication adherence
- Follow strict infection control and isolation protocols
- Respond to urgent pediatric situations using PALS-level skills
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred)
- Active California RN license
- BLS (AHA) required
- ACLS and PALS required
- 3 5 years of RN experience; outpatient or clinic experience preferred
- 1 2 years of pediatric experience in a medical office or ambulatory setting preferred
