About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead daily operations for our food manufacturing and distribution facility. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of food production, and the ability to manage people, processes, and compliance standards in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee all daily plant operations: production, packaging, warehouse, inventory, and distribution.
- Ensure production goals, quality standards, and delivery timelines are met.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
- Maintain accurate reporting on production metrics, yields, downtime, and labor.
Team Management
- Supervise production supervisors, leads, and hourly staff.
- Ensure appropriate staffing, scheduling, and labor planning for all shifts.
- Train, coach, and develop team members to build high-performing operations.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a clean and safe manufacturing environment at all times.
- Lead plant audits, inspections, and corrective action plans.
- Oversee documentation for safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Skills and Requirements
- Familiar with USDA, FDA, and OSHA food manufacturing requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of food safety programs.
- Ability to manage and motivate cross-functional production teams.
- Solid problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
Required
- 3-5+ years of experience in plant management or senior production leadership.
- Experience in food manufacturing, food processing, or food distribution.
- Strong knowledge of food safety laws (HACCP, GMP, FDA/USDA).
- Proven experience leading teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Food Science, Business, or related field.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
