Position Summary:
Collaborates with physician to provide a plan of care that will return the patient to optimal health. Provides bedside nursing care and carries out medical orders. Delegates to and oversees Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Associate, OB Care Associate, Surgical Service Assistant, Nursing Clerk and Psychiatric Tech functions. Responsible for evaluating effectiveness of care plan.
PACU:
- Team leads as assigned, responsible for efficient time management of peers (and self), ensuring efficient, cost-effective use of dept. resources, and ordering of supplies (may be delegated).
- Possess ability to perform various assessment techniques, including cardiac rhythms and airway management, to identify potential/actual problems related to anesthesia and relevant surgical procedure. Consult anesthesiologist/physician when appropriate using assertive communication skills.
- Utilize and troubleshoot specialty equipment (blood glucose monitor, IV pumps, Bladder scanner, ARJO lift/slides, EKG machine) in an independent, safe manner.
Q Qualifications
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan
- Must satisfactorily complete the first available Basic Dysrhythmia course.
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification
- Six (6) months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent
- Must satisfactorily complete ACLS course within one year of hire/transfer (PPH/PACU/PMCS/ENDO MINOR PROCEDURES)
Preferred:
- Previous experience in Surgical Services area
- Proficient in IV starts
- PALS (PACU)
