Job Responsibilities
- Working in contract role in a local acute facility for a designated time period (usually 10-15 weeks)
- Working with patients at acute care facilities
- Providing for the comfort of patients by responding to their call lights and requests, observing their conditions, and reporting updates to the nursing supervisor
- Turning and re-positioning patients throughout the day and helping to transport them within the facility
- Serving meals, feeding patients, and ensuring proper hydration (as needed) and assisting patients with other activities of daily living
- Ensuring patient safety by taking and documenting their vital signs throughout the day and performing point of care testing (such as glucose checks when permitted by scope of practice and facility policies)
- Charting and completing forms, reports, logs, and records and other required documentation
- Protecting the confidentiality of patient information
- Following all professional standards and facility policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local requirements and Joint Commission standards
- Being accountable to follow and adhere to care plans for patients
- Ensuring ongoing professional expertise by maintaining licensure and participating in educational and organizational opportunities
Qualifications and Skills
- Active, unencumbered CNA certification in Rhode Island
- At least 6 months of experience in a Certified Nursing Assistant or related role
- Completion of necessary state training and/or state-sanctioned competency exam
- Immunizations as required
- BLS certification from the AHA
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
