Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist with extensive expertise in sourcing electronic components and materials. The ideal candidate will manage the procurement process, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of high-quality parts essential for our manufacturing operations. This role requires a proactive approach to managing the backlog in accordance with sales orders, parts procurement, production schedules, and delivery timelines.
Responsibilities:
Sourcing and Procurement:
- Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers of electronic components, both locally and internationally
- Obtain quotes and negotiate terms to secure competitive pricing and favorable delivery schedules
Supplier Management:
- Develop and maintain a list of preferred suppliers, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards
- Monitor supplier performance, addressing any issues related to quality, delivery, or service promptly
Inventory and Demand Planning:
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to forecast demand and manage inventory levels
- Monitor MRP demand and exception reports to prepare and distribute purchase orders accordingly
- Control company inventory, continuously reviewing levels and adjusting stock as needed
Production Scheduling and Backlog Management:
- Drive the backlog in accordance with sales orders, parts procurement, production schedules, and delivery timelines
- Manage manufacturing schedules to ensure alignment with production goals and customer requirements
Logistics and Freight Management:
- Oversee all aspects of domestic and international freight and logistics to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials
- Coordinate product shipments, including reverse material flows, to support production and customer satisfaction
Quality Assurance:
- Work closely with quality control personnel to address defective or unacceptable goods, ensuring timely resolution with suppliers
- Ensure all procured materials comply with company specifications and industry standards
Market Analysis:
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and market conditions to make informed purchasing decisions
- Research and evaluate new suppliers to diversify the supply base and mitigate risks
Documentation Support:
- Organize and maintain design and procurement documents
- Update and manage BOMs
- Use AutoCAD to assist with layout and design as needed
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in procurement, specifically within the electronics manufacturing industry
- Proven track record of sourcing electronic components and managing supplier relationships
Skills:
- Proficiency in MRP/ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
