Nextern is seeking an Industrial Engineer specializing in the medical device sector to enhance our operational efficiency and streamline production processes. This role involves evaluating and designing workflows, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and implementing improvements to maximize productivity while maintaining quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess both technical and interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration with cross-functional teams and contributing to innovative solutions.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Develop workflow diagrams and process maps to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions
- Ensure that all engineering practices comply with industry standards and regulations
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to integrate new technologies and methodologies
- Conduct time studies and process evaluations to inform resource allocation and investment decisions
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and Six Sigma projects
- Train and mentor production staff on process improvements and best practices
- Contribute to cross-functional project teams focused on product development and process innovation
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in process engineering, specifically within the medical device industry
- Familiarity with industry regulations, including FDA and ISO standards
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in statistical analysis and process improvement methodologies
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Fluent in English; bilingual skills are a plus
- Proficiency in CAD software and manufacturing systems
- Strong project management skills and experience working in fast-paced environments
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIORNMENT:
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout manufacturing areas for extended periods; occasionally lift up to 25 pounds; manual dexterity for component handling; visual acuity for reading technical drawings
- Work Environment: Controlled or cleanroom manufacturing environment requiring gowning; exposure to production machinery and moderate noise; occasional travel (up to 10%)
- Safety Requirements: Comply with company and regulatory safety standards, participate in safety programs, and use designated PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and cleanroom attire

Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 annually
