An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager/Process Engineering Manager to lead continuous improvement initiatives, optimize production and maintenance processes, and ensure operational excellence within a high-volume plastics injection molding environment. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical expertise, making it an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Manufacturing Manager with a passion for lean manufacturing and process innovation.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a cross-functional team including direct reports from the assistant molding manager, process engineers, tooling and technicians.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives to improve workflow efficiency and reduce waste across all production areas.
- Manage daily injection molding operations, ensuring optimal machine performance and minimal downtime.
- Drive root cause analysis (RCA), lead PDCA activities, and execute corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and uptime.
- Develop and document process workflows, work cell layouts, and post-mold automation strategies.
- Maintain standardized component lists and support planning for future equipment expansions.
- Oversee capital investment projects including cost justifications, budget control, equipment installation, and training.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to implement cost-saving initiatives and ensure production targets are met.
- Coordinate vendor and contractor relationships for parts, equipment quotes, and quality assurance.
- Lead, mentor, and support maintenance and production technicians in troubleshooting, skill development, and project work.
- Ensure compliance with Quality Work Instructions (QWI), safety standards, and industry regulations.
- Support special engineering projects and represent the department in cross-functional meetings.
- Utilize Maximo and other software tools for preventive maintenance tracking and downtime reporting.
- Write and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic and interface with automation and vision systems.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent technical training.
- 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in injection molding and process optimization.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with ability to rebuild hydraulic and electrical components.
- Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing principles, preventive maintenance programs, and root cause problem-solving.
- Ability to read and interpret tooling prints, technical diagrams, schematics, and work instructions.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing teams, improving processes, and driving performance metrics.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with high-volume automotive plastics manufacturing and automation systems.
- Familiarity with Just-in-Time (JIT) production methods and automotive quality standards.
- Knowledge of quality processes ITAF16949 and ISO9001
