About Board Budder
- Board Budder is a rider-built, science-backed company redefining what performance means in winter sports. From our workshop in Salt Lake City, we craft high-performance, natural-based ski and snowboard wax that rides cleaner, faster, and without petroleum.
- We’re in a new era of growth — expanding rapidly across retail, wholesale, and tune shops including REI, Scheels, and Ski Butlers. Every bar of wax we make represents more than just glide; it’s proof that sustainability and performance can coexist side by side.
The Role
- We’re looking for a Director of Manufacturing & Operations to lead the evolution of Board Budder’s production from small-batch to scalable manufacturing. This is a builder role — not just managing what exists, but creating the systems, workflows, and operational backbone that will carry us into national expansion.
- You’ll be hands-on in the wax lab, producing batches daily while designing efficient systems for fulfillment, shipping, and supply chain. You’ll bring structure to our growing operation, ensuring every bar that leaves our facility meets the quality, consistency, and reliability riders expect.
- This is an opportunity to join a fast-moving outdoor brand at the ground level, own a key piece of our growth story, and build something lasting.
What You’ll Do:
1.Manufacturing
- Lead daily production of Board Budder wax — batching, pouring, cutting, and packaging.
- Design and implement a scalable manufacturing process capable of meeting growing volume needs.
- Standardize production methods, quality control, and material handling procedures.
- Maintain consistent quality, performance, and appearance across all product lines.
2.Operations & Systems
- Develop and refine SOPs for production, inventory, and fulfillment.
- Establish lean, repeatable workflows to reduce downtime and boost efficiency.
- Oversee daily order fulfillment and ensure products ship on time and accurately.
- Collaborate with leadership on capacity planning, cost optimization, and production forecasting.
3.Supply Chain & Fulfillment
- Manage procurement and inventory for raw materials, packaging, and components.
- Build relationships with suppliers to maintain steady, cost-effective material flow.
- Organize and improve fulfillment systems for both wholesale and direct-to-consumer orders.
- Identify and implement tools or processes to streamline inventory tracking and logistics.
4.Leadership & Growth
- Hire and train future production and fulfillment staff as volume grows.
- Create a production culture grounded in craftsmanship, consistency, and accountability.
- Act as the operational backbone of Board Budder — ensuring that when sales accelerate, production can keep up.
Who You Are
- You have 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or production leadership — ideally in CPG, natural products, or small-batch manufacturing (e.g. candles, cosmetics, food, or outdoor gear).
- You’re hands-on — not afraid to pour, press, or pack while designing better systems for it.
- You understand how to build structure from scratch — floor layouts, process flows, and inventory logic.
- You’re organized, dependable, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where efficiency matters.
- You love the idea of being part of something that blends science, sustainability, and board culture.
- You’re excited by the challenge of helping a small brand become a household name in snow sports.
Why Join Board Budder
- You’ll have ownership and autonomy — this role is about building, not just maintaining.
- You’ll directly shape how a sustainable, high-performance product reaches thousands of riders.
- You’ll work with a small, passionate team that’s rewriting what “eco” can mean in the snow industry.
- You’ll be part of something real — a rider-built company that’s growing fast and staying authentic.
