Job Summary:
The Product Engineering Specialist, Product Manufacturing plays a vital role in supporting the development and production of Harry Winston’s exceptional fine jewelry. This position serves as a critical link between Product Development, CAD, and Manufacturing, ensuring that all technical elements required for successful and repeatable production are clearly defined, verified, and documented. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Product Engineering Specialist will develop detailed manufacturing documentation, identify and implement process improvements, and help maintain the highest standards of craftsmanship and quality. This role is essential in enabling production scalability while preserving the artisanal integrity and excellence synonymous with the Harry Winston brand.
Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Documentation & Standards
- Develop and maintain detailed work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and specifications to ensure consistent, high-quality production of components and finished jewelry.
- Create pre-assembly guides and technical illustrations to support manufacturing teams.
- Define and document requirements including:
- Tooling and equipment needs
- Component part numbers
- Manufacturing routings and time standards
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Production Handover
- Manage the technical deliverables required for seamless product handover from development to production.
- Verify and update all manufacturing documentation to ensure readiness for full-scale manufacturing.
Specification & Product Data Management
- Create and maintain detailed product specification sheets for all new and existing designs.
- Support the integrity of technical data across the product lifecycle.
Product Library Oversight
- Maintain and update the product library, including CAD files, model data, specification sheets, and BOMs, ensuring accessibility and version control across departments and locations.
Project Coordination
- Collaborate with Product Development to track project timelines and deliverables using tools such as Smartsheet or Jira.
- Ensure all product development milestones are met according to schedule.
Key Job Relationships:
Internal
- Collaborates closely with Product Development, CAD, Manufacturing, Gemstone Acquisition, and Quality Assurance teams to ensure smooth product transitions and manufacturing readiness.
External
- May interface with third-party casting partners and subcontracted manufacturers to communicate technical specifications and ensure production standards are met.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (BET), Fine Arts (BFA), or related discipline
- 3–5 years of experience in a jewelry manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of production processes
- Hands on jewelry making experience is highly desirable and considered a strong asset
- Proven ability to work effectively in a structured, collaborative team setting
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office applications
- Proficiency in Rhino or comparable CAD software is required
- Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles is essential
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely
