Power Device Corporation (PDC) is seeking a Mechanical Engineering & Staff Director to join our Engineering team located in Poway CA. This position will oversee and direct the Engineering Team in Poway as well as Mechanical Engineers and Draftspersons in all PDC locations. (Poway CA, Bohemia NY, and Isle of Wight UK)
The Mechanical Engineering Director has responsibility for management, preparation and coordination and of all technical activities on Mechanical and Process engineering aspect of a project. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates assigned engineering work; monitors work for compliance to applicable engineering practices and standards; ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between disciplines and all other project participants.
This is a working position of Mechanical and SMT Process so the applicant is expected to have significant technical knowledge and awareness to be able to recognize when technical problems are developing and to initiate appropriate corrective actions.
Responsible for managing staff, allocating resources, and directing the activities of other engineers to successfully execute projects. Create manpower workload. Mentor and train staff. Assist with interviews and evaluations of potential key hires.
Responsibilities
- Drive methodology within the Mechanical Engineering group.
- Prepare for PDR’s and CDR’s and be the main technical representative for the mechanical engineering group.
- Communicate and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
- Manage mechanical, Process, and Documentation staff, allocate resources, and direct the activities of other engineers.
- Mentor and train mechanical staff.
- Prepare, review, and oversee complete drawings and specifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant work experience.
- 10+ years of Mechanical design and technical lead roles.
- Strong Knowledge of commercial, Avionic and Military design practices.
- Experience with thermal and modal analysis using Solidworks.
- Experience 3D modeling using Solidworks.
- Experience leading other engineers, mentoring staff and allocating manpower/workload resources.
