Job Description
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The VP of Operations is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and works closely with branch leaders to ensure consistent, high-quality experiences for members, families, and children while maintaining strong financial health and alignment with the YMCA’s mission and strategic plan.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, Nonprofit Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- YMCA Multi Team Leader certification preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in operations, with specific experience in membership, childcare, or youth development settings.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, lead cross-functional teams, and drive strategic initiatives.
- Demonstrated success in developing systems that improve efficiency and elevate service quality.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Understanding of YMCA programs, values, and community impact strongly preferred.
Essential Functions
- Develop and implement strategies to grow membership, increase retention, and enhance member satisfaction across all YMCA branches.
- Provide visionary oversight for licensed childcare programs, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and mission-aligned service delivery.
- Provide strategic leadership and support to the YMCA's competitive swimming programs, ensuring alignment with youth development goals, operational excellence, and community engagement.
- Lead the development and execution of Association-wide operational standards and practices that improve efficiency and consistency.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities for program expansion, revenue generation, and community impact.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation across departments and branches.
- Coach branch Executive Directors and departmental leads to ensure operational excellence and strong team engagement.
- Serve as a liaison between departments and Executive Leadership to ensure clear communication and alignment of initiatives.
- Oversee budgets for membership and childcare departments, ensuring responsible stewardship and achievement of financial targets.
- Monitor key performance indicators, analyze trends, and implement course corrections as needed.
- Lead efforts to optimize resource allocation and operational efficiencies without compromising program quality.
- Proactively assess operational risks and lead risk management efforts, including training, policy enforcement, and incident response protocols to ensure the safety of staff, members, and program participants.
- Review, update, and ensure the use of proper forms and processes at all YMCA locations.
- Participate in the Annual Support Campaign as both a campaigner and contributor.
- Perform all other duties assigned.
