About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to oversee the engineering, production, production control, quality, and sourcing/procurement departments, while improving collaboration with sales, design, and project management teams. This role will ensure cohesion across departments, enhance project workflows, and facilitate seamless production flow. As a key member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the President, this position plays a critical role in the company’s strategic growth by scaling operations, streamlining processes to optimize efficiency, and delivering high-quality results.
Please Note: This role requires experience leading and managing day-to-day operations in a custom manufacturing environment. Millwork experience is highly desired.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Effectively translate company vision and strategy into actionable work for the team.
- Develop and execute short and long-term plans to scale manufacturing operations in response to growth or market demands.

People and Team Development
- Build strong, capable teams through strategic people development.
- Mentor, coach, and develop other leaders.
- Foster a high-performance culture by equipping employees and leaders with clear expectations, actionable feedback, and robust support systems, ensuring they hold themselves to rigorous standards while promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with HR and department leaders to align talent planning initiatives with broader organizational strategies and operational needs.
Cross Department Collaboration and Communication Enhancement
- Foster greater collaboration and communication between engineering, production, production control, project management, sourcing/procurement, and quality teams.
- Improve the flow of information, reduce misunderstandings, and enhance coordination to meet project timelines and quality standards.
Budgeting and Cost Management
- Analyze production and operations costs and recommend improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
- Manage budgets, control expenses, and ensure financial goals are met.
- Identify needs for capital equipment investments.
Metrics/KPI’s
- Develop, track, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of operational processes.
- Monitor operational metrics and KPIs to identify trends, assess performance, and recommend actionable improvements.
- Ensure operational metrics and KPIs align with overall organizational goals and objectives.
Continuous Improvement and Process Optimization
- Drive continuous improvement by streamlining processes, enhancing efficiency, and optimizing workflows.
Technology and Automation
- Explore and Integrate technologies and automation into engineering, programming, production, and quality control processes to increase operational efficiency and improve scalability.
- Optimize use of current ERP system. (Sage)
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations management, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in lieu of a degree will be considered, particularly with experience in a custom manufacturing environment.
Required Experience
- 7+ years of experience in production/operations management, manufacturing, or a similar leadership role.
- It is highly preferred to have experience leading in a custom design-build or project-based environment.
- Experience with millwork, retail store fixtures and branded environments is highly desirable.
- Proven record of leading cross-functional teams and driving operational improvements.
- Experience overseeing multiple departments such as drafting engineering, production, production control, quality, sourcing/procurement, and project management.

- ERP Systems and Technology: Experience in optimizing ERP systems and integrating new technologies to improve workflows and scalability.
- Metrics and Data Analysis: Proficiency in developing and analyzing KPIs and operational metrics to drive data-informed decisions.
- Budget and Cost Management: Strong financial acumen for managing budgets, controlling costs, and recommending capital investments.
- Risk Management: Experience developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies to address potential operational disruptions.
- Strong communication and people skills to inspire and align diverse teams.
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, project management tools, and quality control systems.
- Knowledge of drafting engineering software/tools (SolidWorks, PDM) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of production planning and capacity management.
Pay range and compensation package
Pay Range
$175,000 - $225,000 (+ profit sharing)
The actual base salary offered will vary based on factors such as relevant skills, prior experience, education, and demonstrated performance. In addition to your base salary, you will be eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
