About This Opportunity
This position will be part of the
North American Operational Excellence Department. The goal of our team is to identify the best and brightest ideas to support Store Operations and 65,000+ Store Employees. This can be accomplished through improving existing or establishing new operational procedures. Process improvement can also be achieved by enhancing existing store systems or with the adoption of new technology. This position will allow you to become part of a talented team of specialists who have demonstrated skills in data, logistics, labor modeling, loss prevention, safety, and store operations leadership.
Role Responsibility
- Develop new operating practices to enable optimal efficiency
- Source new technology to further automate store operation functions
- Work cross-functionally with store operators and store support staff on initiatives that aim to minimize work requirements of store staff, while ensuring store standards are maintained and/or improved
- Lead piloting of new operating procedures to prove value and to de-risk potential issues at scale
- Mature successful pilot workstreams to enable scaled deployment, delivering efficient and effective training and management of change
- Deliver routine status updates on initiative progress to support staff and senior leadership
- Ownership and tracking of program performance metrics
- Drive engagement and execution of project priorities at all levels of organization
- Additional projects will be added and learned on the job through deep immersion with subject matter experts
- Collaborates across functions (e.g., supply chain, merchandising) regarding process improvement opportunities related to management of inventory in store
Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field is preferred. Other combinations of job-related experience and education that meet the requirements may be substituted
- 2-5 years of experience in process improvement/optimization or comparable experience (e.g., program management, operations, management consulting, strategy, etc.)
- Strong retail business acumen with understanding of the convenience and fuel industry
- Proficient in written and oral communication, with ability to effectively communicate across all levels of an organization (entry level staff to senior leadership)
- Out of the box, strategic analytical thinker – willing to take some risks on programs that could yield significant operational improvement
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Results-driven mindset with the ability to balance strategic planning and tactical execution
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement
- Understanding of basic project management practices
- High level of comfort with technological advancements and high level of intellectual curiosity
- Skilled in Microsoft Office tools – PPT, Excel, Power BI
- Basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in a retail, specifically related to inventory management
- Basic understanding of global economics

- The location for the job posting is Columbus, Indiana, but can be based out of another BU office in the US, Laval (Quebec) or Toronto (Ontario). This role requires working 5-days a week in-person with your team.
