Peoria's Parks & Recreation Department has an excellent opportunity for an Administrative Assistant II who will provide administrative support to the Department. This position is based out of the Peoria Sports Complex and duties will include creating and maintaining spreadsheets and reports; entering and tracking the status of projects and documents in various databases including expenses, contracts, invoices, purchase orders or requisitions; coordinating meetings with several attendees; answering multiple incoming lines and managing voicemails; and providing excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders,. The person in this position assists with special assignments, projects, meetings, and/or events through coordination and administration. Other duties may include completing related tasks as assigned.

The ideal candidate for this position will be
- A self-motivated, thoughtful, and energetic individual who enjoys both administrative responsibilities and analytical projects. The successful team member will also demonstrate:
- A desire to support staff in multiple administrative facets throughout a varied department, while they offer services and programs to the residents of Peoria and other end-users of a vast inventory of parks, open space, trails and recreational facilities
- Attention to detail, organizational prowess and the talent to keep many plates in the air at any time with an outgoing and pleasant personality
- The ability to competently follow-through with staff in multiple areas , with varying strengths, to garner the desired outcomes for department needs
- A personality that gets along with all sorts of staff, at all levels, in multiple different disciplines
- Proven written and oral communication success with staff of all levels
- Excellent customer service, collaboration and relationship building skills
- Experience with Microsoft Teams and corresponding applications
- Experience with a municipal or government setting (preferred)

Minimum Requirements
Education
- High school graduation or equivalency.
Experience
- 2 years' experience with doing comparable level 2 responsibilities.
- Considerable previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions.
- The job requires a sound knowledge of common and uncommon techniques, concepts, methods, practices, use of forms, routines, etc., of a complex nature.
Preferred/Desirable Qualifications
- High School graduation or equivalency.
- 2-4 years of experience in the same or similar previous positions.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
