Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Operations to join our leadership team and drive operational success across our subsidiary companies. This senior role requires a proven leader who can effectively manage multi-site operations and optimize business processes. The ideal candidate will have the ability to build consensus throughout the organization, guide business operations, and implement tactical improvements across our portfolio. This position reports to Alta Arbor’s President and will be responsible for partnering with leadership on overall operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Work with executive team and business unit leaders to establish operational goals, budgets, and performance metrics
- Develop and execute comprehensive operational strategies that align with holding company objectives across all subsidiaries
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive efficiency, profitability, and sustainable growth
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for operational improvements, cost reduction, and revenue enhancement
Operations Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple subsidiary locations and business units
- Ensure consistent operational standards, quality control, and customer service delivery
- Develop and implement effective inventory management systems
- Optimize manufacturing processes and facility utilization to maximize productivity
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, lead, and mentor high-performing operational teams across subsidiaries
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence
- Develop succession planning and talent management strategies for key operational roles
- Collaborate effectively with subsidiary management teams to achieve shared objectives
Performance Management & Analytics
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics
- Utilize data analytics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement
- Prepare comprehensive operational reports and presentations for executive leadership
- Implement data-driven decision-making processes across all operational functions
Process Improvement & Technology
- Drive operational efficiency through process optimization and technology adoption to modernize and standardize operations and systemsEvaluate and implement new technologies to enhance productivity and competitiveness
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and quality requirements
Required Qualifications
Experience & Background
- Minimum 10+ years of leadership experience in operations management
- Proven track record in manufacturing and/or distribution environments
- Experience managing multi-site operations or subsidiary companies preferred
- Strong background in supply chain management, logistics, and inventory optimization
Industry Knowledge
- Horticulture or landscape services experience preferred (but not required)
- Understanding of seasonal business dynamics and agricultural/horticultural supply chains
- Knowledge of industry regulations, quality standards, and best practices
Technical Skills
- Fluent in English (required) and Spanish (preferred)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with various operating systems and enterprise software platforms
- Familiarity with ERP systems, inventory management software, and business intelligence tools

- Data-driven approach to decision-making and problem-solving
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex operational data

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
- Master’s degree (MBA preferred) or equivalent advanced education
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies
- Previous experience in private equity or holding company environments
