Job Summary
Manager of Operations manages manufacturing. Assists with planning and directing an efficient layout of equipment and flow of materials. Ensures manufacturing performance, volume and quality goals are met by utilizing efficient methods and maintaining appropriate staffing levels. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs, ensures that project/department milestones and goals are met and adheres to approved budgets. Manage staff behaviors by providing training and appropriate rewards, and when necessary, enforcing policy, procedures, and disciplinary actions.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Oversees Production, supply chain, Purchasing, Estimating, R&D, Quality, EHS/Compliance, and Maintenance.
Ensures daily operations are in compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines; identify procedural deficiencies and report such deficiencies to appropriate parties.
Ensures production and process quality are aligned with overall objectives of organization, and scope of manufacturing goals.
Works closely with internal and external resources to ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies needed for the overall operation of manufacturing.
Identifies ways to increase quality and quantity by implementing best practices across all levels of operation.
Facilitates operational management of systems including but not limited to, NetSuite and/or other designated Manufacturing Systems.
Responsible for the supervision of staff including but not limited to, evaluating job performance, providing hiring recommendations, training, corrective, and disciplinary actions; scheduling and delegation of work duties; and time and attendance.
Identifies, selects, implements, and maintains manufacturing equipment to support production requirements.
SCOPE
Supervises staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating job performance.
Schedules and assigns work responsibilities.
Sets individual goals and monitors progress toward achievement.
Takes corrective action in the form of performance improvement plans or disciplinary action.
Recommends salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations.
May have direct reports who are managers, supervisors, or individual contributors.
Document, monitor and control expenditures in accordance with established budget.
Contributes to departmental budget and forecasting process. Approves expenditures in line with signature authorization policy.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s (BS/BA) degree is preferred.
- In lieu of Bachelor’s (BS/BA) degree 8 years of progressive experience as Operations / Manufacturing Manager leading operations team in manufacturing powder and/or liquid materials may be considered.
Experience
Must have at least 6 years of management experience in a manufacturing setting.
At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing supervisory role.
Basic understanding of NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
Intermediate experience in compounding by using pre-set formulas or doses based on industrial scale.
Working knowledge of Total Quality Management (TQM), Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Kaizen, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

General knowledge to packaging products to ensure products are safe during shipment.
SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

Thorough knowledge of supply chain management, process improvement, quality control.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Generally, the work environment is that of a manufacturing plant, specifically one that manufactures food products.
