About the Job:

The Facilities Management Department is seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Supervisor to lead and support daily operations across a diverse range of facilities projects. The Maintenance Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring the effective delivery of maintenance programs, repairs, and preventive work that align with organizational standards and needs. The selected candidate will possess strong leadership skills and technical expertise, a commitment to safety and efficiency, and the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams. They will bring a solution-oriented mindset, excellent communication skills, and a strong focus on operational excellence and customer service.

What You'll Do:

Optimize FMD Processes: Oversee daily activities of maintenance and trade teams engaged in facilities management activities on repairs, preventive maintenance, and work orders. Determine and support processes for developing and achieving operational strategies. Estimate project cost and time; ensure timely completion of work orders; inspect work for accuracy and consistency with mandates and requirements. Ensure efficiency and alignment of work efforts with organizational performance, priorities, process, standards, specifications, budgets, and documentation requirements. Communicate policies, procedures, and priorities.
Enhance Organizational Effectiveness: Analyze current practices, identify improvement opportunities, and implement strategies to support company goals. Produces and/or participates in the development of work activities reports, processes, procedures, performance indicators and targets, metrics, customer service survey, operating budget, purchases, expenditures control efforts, instructions, learning materials, and schedules.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Maintain partnership with stakeholders and coordinate work activities internally and externally. Formulate and communicate work activities, objectives, and shape perspectives.
Lead and Coach: Monitor, coach, and foster team performance, competencies, development, diversity, inclusion, learning, customer focus, and productive work environment. Collaborate with management to recognize and reward achievements, complete corrective action, and oversee consulting services. Ensure practice is consistent with Memorandum of Agreements, standards, and safety obligations. Contribute to the selection of employees and training of assigned teams. Assign work, performance requirements, and personal development targets.
Emergency Response & Problem Solving: Respond to emergencies and inquiries. Resolve complaints effectively and professionally. Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory updates. Foster and ensure safe work practices.
Operational Driving*: Operates and drives Authority vehicles to internal and external work sites. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

The Experience You Need to Have**:

Six years of journey-level experience in one of the building construction trades, of which two years were in a of lead or supervisory role;
High school diploma or GED equivalent;  
or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements :

Maintain a valid driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Authority's vehicle insurance policy.
Successful completion of a fingerprint-based background investigation, training, and testing required for employment and operation and operation of Authority and San Diego County physical security, surveillance, radio and telecommunications equipment.

Associate degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, or a related field
Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) Certification
International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) Certification
Building Owner and Managers Association (BOMA/BOMI) Certification
Certified Maintenance Management Specialist (CMMS)
Driving is an Essential Function

This role requires regular driving as a critical part of performing work-related duties, specifically involving the operation of Airport Authority vehicles. A valid California driver's license is required, along with strict adherence to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Applicants must maintain an acceptable driving record to operate Authority vehicles. Compliance with Airport Authority vehicle use policies, including safety protocols and reporting requirements, is mandatory. Applicants must acknowledge that driving Airport Authority vehicles is an essential function of this role.
