The SuraMed Health Center is seeking an organized and dedicated Nurse Scheduler to join our team. The Nurse Scheduler is a crucial part of the team, responsible for ensuring smooth operations in the scheduling and coordination of patient appointments and nursing staff availability. This role will involve a high level of interaction with staff and patients and the successful applicant will need excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a strong commitment to patient care.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily patient scheduling, including booking appointments, cancellations, and rescheduling.
- Handle all aspects related to nurse scheduling, ensuring adequate nurse coverage for all shifts and minimizing scheduling conflicts.
- Facilitate emergency schedule changes in a way that disrupts patient care as little as possible.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, administrators, and patients regarding scheduling changes or concerns.
- Utilize scheduling software and systems effectively and accurately to maintain up-to-date and accurate records.
- Monitor and report on scheduling metrics to identify trends, potential issues, or areas of improvement.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a high school diploma is required, though an associate's degree or higher in a healthcare or administrative field will be considered an asset.
- Previous experience in a scheduling, administrative, or healthcare role is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in using scheduling software and computer systems is a must.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a problem-solving mindset and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
