General Manager, Manufacturing
Overview:
A leading manufacturer of high-performance specialty materials is seeking a General Manager of Manufacturing to oversee operations at a major production facility. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving excellence across safety, quality, delivery, and cost, while fostering a culture of accountability, employee engagement, and operational clarity. The position carries full Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibility and includes direct oversight of department managers and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to multiple manufacturing departments through senior-level managers.
- Execute business plans aligned with corporate objectives, contributing to broader functional strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, on-time delivery, and cost performance.
- Lead culture transformation efforts that support high accountability and positive employee engagement across all levels.
- Manage and resolve matters related to collective bargaining agreements and union relations.
- Ensure full compliance with workplace safety, environmental standards, and community engagement expectations.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet production goals and financial targets.
- Remove organizational and operational roadblocks to improve efficiency and responsiveness.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing, including at least 5 years in a management or leadership capacity.
- Proven ability to manage complex operations with measurable success in operational performance and team development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Broad business and leadership expertise across multiple operational functions.
- Financial and strategic planning experience, including budgeting and resource management.
- In-depth understanding of industrial and manufacturing processes, standards, and best practices.
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Demonstrated success in managing union relationships and promoting positive employee relations.
