Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the direction of the Director of Facilities Management; plan, organize, direct, communicate, and advise on the South Austin Medical Center’s activities related to Safety, Environmental compliance, and Joint Commission Environment of Care compliance. Perform as the South Austin Medical Center’s Safety Officer and Emergency Preparedness Manager.
- You will develop, maintain, and implement Environment of Care and emergency management Plans and associated components.
- You will maintain compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations including, but not limited to TCEQ, EPA, OSHA, TJC and CMS.
- You will maintain compliance with general workplace safety requirements including OSHA Standards. NFPA, and Uniform Fire Code.
- You will maintain regulatory compliance documents in Complyos as required.
- You will serve as Chairperson of the Emergency Management ad-hoc committee and Co-chair of the Environment of Care Committee and the Safety & Security Committee.
- You will serve as hospital appointed Safety Officer
- You will be responsible for the coordination, execution, and documentation of required emergency preparedness exercises and fire drills.
- You will work with the Quality Department to ensure adherence to infection prevention policies and procedures.
- You will coordinate and conduct environmental tours of clinical and nonclinical areas at the hospital and off-site locations. Document and report findings/resolutions to the Environment of Care Committee at least once per quarter.
- You will provide education for new employees and staff as required.
- You will be responsible for Safety and Emergency preparedness for all offsite facilities and properties.
- You will report trends and statistics monthly to the Director of Facilities Management.
What qualifications you will need:
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in related field from an accredited College or University, or Minimum of 3 years of multi-disciplinary experience and oversite of two of the following areas in a health care facility: Environment of Care, Life Safety, and/or Emergency Management.
- Required: Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Preferred: (CHFM) Certified Healthcare Facility Manager or (CHSP) Certified Healthcare Safety professional.
