Job Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated professional for a temporary position starting in December, with an initial contract of 4 weeks and the possibility of extending for an additional 4 weeks. An immediate start is preferred.
Requirements
- Valid CA License
- BLS Certification (AHA or ARC)
- Flu Vaccination (no declination or exemptions)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an outpatient/ambulatory setting
- Proficiency in blood draws and IV starts
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Epic charting system
- 1 year of experience in endocrinology
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Job Duties
- Manage inbasket work by addressing patient concerns, messages, and calls for physicians who are out of office, escalating to MDs as necessary
- Provide general diabetes education, including diet, hypoglycemia, and hyperglycemia teaching
- Conduct insulin teaching and administration, and apply and teach continuous glucose monitors (CGM)
- Review CGM glycemic reports and insulin pump reports, and make initial suggestions as comfortable
- Conduct teaching on steroids and Solumedrol
- Administer vaccines
- Coordinate and monitor the completion of diabetes complication checks, including vaccinations, retinal exams, and foot exams
- Administer cosyntropin stimulation tests
- Assist with rooming patients and perform medical assistant duties as needed
