About the Role
The Quality Control Assistant General Manager is responsible for the total product quality of all plants in all phases of operations. This position will have overall responsibility and accountability for an annual budget- P&L. This position will provide overall strategic direction to a Technical Organization, is responsible for adherence to Customers Standards, Process Capability, Development of Customer Relationships, Employee Development, and other Duties Assigned by the Board of Directors. This position will have budget and execution accountability for the following work functions.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Chair Internal Defect Reduction Committee
- Preproduction Committee Member
- Be able to clearly understand projected mid- and long-term trends and adjusting our focus to reduce impact and in making decisions with the end objective being to achieve the optimal total quality and to maximize profitability
- Monitor performance of everyone to meet objectives. Monitor and measure performance.
- Strategic Business Planning
- Develop and Review Budget and Goals with Staff within 60 Days of fiscal End
- Monthly Review as compared to Budget
- Create Positive Work environment, develop performance standards and maintain preferred staff levels
- Responsible for Budget Planning and Maintenance
- Oversee problem solving and scrap reduction
- Be lead on customer visits, meetings & travel
- Responsible for holding daily meetings (Manager, Problem solving, Reporting, Kaizen)
- Manage QC Dept personnel & training as wel
- Responsible for regular audits (internal & hoshin)
- Work on Corporate Kaizen Issues
- Develop and implement quality control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Oversee regular quality audits to assess adherence to established protocols and identify areas for improvement.
- Analyze data collected from various quality inspection processes to identify trends and make informed decisions.
- Coordinate with production teams to address quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Train and mentor staff on quality control practices, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.
About You
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related discipline
- OR - Associate’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience in production scheduling or manufacturing planning, preferably in the automotive sector
- Toyota Production System (TPS) experience strongly preferred
- Strong documentation and launch planning capabilities
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Automotive manufacturing background with emphasis on press/stamping operations and robotic welding systems
- Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and other core quality tools
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in a high-volume production environment
- Knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF 16949 standards and audit protocols
- Automotive manufacturing background with emphasis
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (CMS, Stravis, SAP, Oracle, etc.) and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
