Intercontinental Engineering - Manufacturing Corporation is a heavy machinery manufacturer looking for a Metrology Technician interested in working with large weldments and machined parts (40,000 lbs. +). Intercon fabricates, machines, paints, and assembles products for the commercial marine and defense industries.
Requirements
This position regularly interacts with manufacturing, engineering, and other peers in the Quality Control department. Interpersonal skills are key to success as this position regularly works with groups of peers from production and QC to complete jobs on time. Persons in this role must have a solid analytical approach to decision making and problem solving, and above all, be consistent in performance and decision making over time. Also, must be able to read and write in English.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections using portable measuring arms, laser trackers, and hand gauges such as micrometers, calipers, and go/no-go gauges
- Analyze and develop reports using digital metrology software and company templates
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop inspection and test plans
- Maintain calibration of gauges and gauge system
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Initiate nonconformances and assist with root cause/corrective actions as necessary
- Perform tasks as assigned by the Supervisor to meet the needs of the group
Ideal Candidates Would Have The Following Qualifications
- At least three years' inspection experience using laser trackers, portable measuring arms, laser scanners, or CMM's
- At least three years' experience using handheld measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, and go/no-go gauges
- Experience with digital metrology software for data analysis and reporting
- Ability to read and interpret complex drawings
- Thorough understanding of GD&T
- Proficient at using Microsoft Office products
- Willingness to learn new things
- Be able to work well with little supervision
- Ability to communicate criticism in a manner that avoids hard feelings, and ability to advocate quality improvements in a manner that will foster concurrence rather than resistance
- Ability to be a leader in groups of peers from production to QC
- Good attendance
Physical Requirements
- Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work
- Must be able to see details at close range
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times
- Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials
- PPE is required at all times in the plant and yard
