Job Summary and Qualifications
- Direct the daily operations of POCT at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital andFree Standing ED, and Imaging Centers as needed. This includes but not limited to: decision-making, response to problems, error identification and corrective action. Provide technical/consultative expertise for POCT at facilities within the market.
- Maintain and cultivate a good communication network to include Laboratory leadership and staff, pathologists, and market laboratory support services. Demonstrate appreciation for the priority of meeting/exceeding customer expectations, including patients, clients, physicians and nursing staff. Provide a productive atmosphere. Support the Hospital and Laboratory administrative teams. Display effective leadership skills and talents.
- Actively participate in continuing education of staff and documentation of such education. Maintain departmental competencies for all employees. Perform performance appraisals, set goals and monitor progress.
- Demonstrate innovation and creativity. Respond to changes in clinical laboratory medicine, point-of-care testing and the healthcare environment. Remain current on new innovations and practices pertaining to POCT.
- Serve as a resource for staff. Manages and shares daily workload as needed. Use time wisely. Delegate tasks and plans for succession.
- Develop, write, review and implement procedures and policies. Prepare for inspections at all facilities. Prepare reports as needed. Demonstrate efficiency in all computer related tasks.
- Address department efficiencies from both a facility and a market perspective. Balances consolidation opportunities with facility specific service needs. Remain focused on the effectiveness of the entire operation. Motivate and educate staff to operational methods.
- Review and manage the maintenance of instrument performance records, quality control and appropriate documentation in conjunction with departmental team leaders/supervisors. Troubleshoot instruments and middleware effectively, when appropriate.
- Prepare, implement, and evaluate the POCT QA Program, understand and participate in the clinical laboratory QA plan, safety policies, emergency preparedness plan and infection control plan.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
- Preferred -4 years Medical Technology + minimum 2 years POC experience.
EDUCATION
- Required -Graduate of accredited school of Clinical Laboratory Science.Bachelor of Science degree in a related field.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
- Preferred -ASCP/NCA certified.
