Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to support its production facility. This role handles sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials and components for operations. You'll manage supplier relationships, drive cost savings, and ensure material availability through close partnership with production, engineering, quality, and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and procure production materials including metal components, electrical assemblies, and related parts
- Analyze production schedules and forecasts to determine material requirements using planning systems
- Manage purchase orders, track shipments, and expedite critical items
- Maintain optimal inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse teams on material flow
- Develop supplier partnerships focused on quality, pricing, and delivery performance
- Negotiate contracts and evaluate new vendors to meet production and budget objectives
- Resolve supplier issues related to quality concerns, delays, or material shortages
- Support product changes and new launches through timely component sourcing
- Maintain accurate data in inventory management systems
- Monitor and report on KPIs including delivery performance, cost variance, and inventory metrics
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years in procurement/planning role within manufacturing environment
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Strong knowledge of supply planning and procurement practices
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and negotiation abilities
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in dynamic settings
- Professional certifications (APICS, ASCM, ISM) preferred
- Lean manufacturing or Kanban experience a plus
