Socomec North America (NAM) is Socomec’s organization overseeing all operations in North America. It includes 2 industrial sites and Socomec Inc. (SAM), the sales organization and Powersmiths USA (sales and service).
Crystal Lake Plant (Socomec subsidiary - Boltswitch Inc) is a leading manufacturer of bolted pressure contact switches in North America. It is a fully owned Socomec subsidiary. The Crystal Lake plant is a configure-to-order factory, including a full machine shop and assembly operations.
The Plant Manger provides overall operational direction for the Crystal Lake facility, ensuring it can fully support Socomec NAM sales development. The Plant Manager is therefore accountable for the execution and achievement of the site objectives, which will be monitored through industrial KPIs, including Safety, On-time-delivery (OTD), cost, and quality. The Plant Manager works across all plant level departmental lines to ensure factory operational excellence and a high degree of employee engagement. Manages all Operations Teams, including Purchasing, Receiving, Machining, Assembly, Packaging, and Shipping.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
- Develop annual operational plans, setting objectives with PSM Leadership Team, NAM
- Oversee actions such that all departments are integrated and aligned to achieve a common purpose, and hold them accountable for business results
- Provide meaningful and forward-looking information, presentations, and analysis to senior leaders to support timely and effective business decision-making
- Assess risks of the plant; monitor and manage these risks
- Review systems, tools, and resources (human, financial, technological, manufacturing, etc.) with a goal to meet or exceed the objectives of the plant and always conduct business activities lawfully and ethically
- Investigate industry best-practices and emerging technologies to enhance manufacturing methods
- Work with Production team and Engineering staff to identify best manufacturing practices and implement them across the organization
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives throughout manufacturing
- Provide training to the manufacturing staff (Lean, 5S, etc.)
- Support Production and Engineering in the areas of technical problem solving and the introduction of new processes and equipment
- Implement, monitor, and improve the Key Process Indicators (KPIs) for Manufacturing
- Implement and enhance Production Planning, using the company ERP system and other tools as required.
- Promote and enhance a safety-first culture
- Develop a culture of prevention across the plant
- Assess risks at the earliest stage and implement the appropriate means of prevention
- Update, inform and apply safety guidelines
- Collaborate with Site Safety Manager and Corporate Safety department
- Prepare annual budget proposal (OPEX, CAPEX)
- Work closely with plant Controller and NAM CFO to monitor the business, prepare financial reporting and fiscal compliance
- Control expenditures, and take appropriate measures to ensure that the overall business plan is achieved
- Strategic Talent Management: lead, develop, mentor, and engage direct reports to consistently meet goals
- Work to help maintain a culture that embraces the core values of Socomec, fostering a positive and engaging working environment
- Provide effective performance feedback, encouragement, and recognition to direct reports and across functional areas
- Review and support human resources programs to provide employee growth and development and meet regulatory requirements
- Manage resources in response to fluctuating business needs, changing priorities, and unforeseen problems, all in the most efficient manner
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge And Skills
- Minimum of 15 years of successful leadership experience within the electrical manufacturing industry, with particular emphasis on low voltage devices.
- Configure-to-order manufacturing (machining & assembly) of electro-mechanical products preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business or equivalent experience
- Experience with ISO9001/ISO14001 Quality & Environmental Management Systems
- Experience with ERP Systems in the Purchasing and Manufacturing environments
- Must possess and maintain an unrestricted valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel to international destinations; must possess and maintain a valid passport for international travel.
- Must be available for business travel to international locations.
