Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for an Operations Manager located in Lakeville, MN. The Operations Manager will oversee daily shop operations across Swiss machining and Tool & Cutter Grinding divisions, manage staff, optimize processes, and ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the overall operation. The role involves coordinating closely with programmers, Swiss machining leads, and the Quality team, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Operations Manager will also be responsible for scheduling, budgeting, performance tracking, and reporting to senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily shop operations, including Swiss machining and Tool & Cutter Grinding divisions.
- Work closely with programmers and Swiss machining leads to align production plans, troubleshoot issues, and optimize setups.
- Partner with the Quality team to ensure all products meet specifications, compliance, and customer expectations.
- Manage labor resources, scheduling, and shop-floor priorities to maximize machine uptime and efficiency.
- Support training and development of machinists, operators, and grinding specialists, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency across all departments.
- Collaborate with leadership on long-term strategies, capital equipment planning, and workforce needs.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in precision machining, with at least 2 years in Swiss-style CNC machining.
- Experience overseeing or working with tool and cutter grinding operations preferred.
- Knowledge of safety and quality standards.
- Process optimization and efficiency improvement experience.
- Budgeting and performance tracking experience.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field (preferred).
- Prior supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
