Job Summary and Qualifications
The Paralegal is responsible for working at the direction of the VP, AVP and/or Director of The Dispute Resolution Department and provides legal support to the department.
What you will do in this role:
- Reviews contracts and drafts demand letters under direction of The Payment Compliance Counsel, VP, AVP and/or Director of Department.
- Contacts insurance companies or their designated third party administrator (in writing, telephonically and/or electronically) to escalate and resolve claim payments for denied accounts pursued by the Dispute Resolution Department.
- Becomes proficient in utilizing tools to track legal collection activities and prepare reports as requested by Counsel.
- Assists with the tracking and reporting of monthly legal collections to leadership.
- Works assigned pools and updates notes in various computer systems.
- Conducts legal research under the direction of Counsel.
- Acts as a team player, accepting job responsibilities willingly and proactively initiates assistance to other legal team members.
- Adheres to Parallon policies relating to attendance, tardiness, compliance and confidentiality.
- Attends department meetings and provides insight on legal issues.
What qualifications you will need:
- Paralegal Degree from an accredited institution or Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred. Equivalent work experience may substitute for the degree preference.
- Minimum four years of legal, collections and/or healthcare experience required.
- Health Insurance Experience Preferred
- Paralegal Certificate Preferred
