Job Summary and Qualifications
The AVP Medical Capital Equipment Sourcing is responsible for delivering substantial, year-over-year value by leading large scale transformations of medical equipment management processes and building strategic alliances and partnerships within the organization and its members. Specifically, the individual will oversee 1 billion in capital spend for HCA, in addition to other member engagement opportunities.
This individual must develop and execute innovative, industry leading cost-savings strategies that deliver significant and measurable financial and operational value to members through the Medical Equipment portfolio.
This individual will manage and lead a team consisting of Capital Service Line Directors, and Quote Review analysts to ensure an effective, knowledgeable, customer-focused team environment that can be effectively measured with performance-based metrics.
What you will do in this role:
Operations:
- Responsible for financial and budgetary considerations, revenue, customer relationships, and leadership communication.
- Operational responsibilities include team integration, leadership and personnel development, development of critical service line offerings, and execution of service line offerings within HCA and other HealthTrust members.
- Within the medical equipment process, individual will be responsible for maximizing value across the equipment lifecycle including:
- Planning – Ensure complete inventory/asset log with attributes necessary for strategic capital planning, work with IDNs to determine capital budgets, and identify opportunities for consolidated purchasing and development of spec standards. Assess, implement, or utilize capital inventory/budgeting applications, as necessary for IDN.
- Acquisition – Drive improvement by streamlining process from request to purchase while maximizing value by managing demand, ensuring contract and pricing compliance, and pursuing leveraged buys.
- Management – Develop systems and processes to track service and utilization of medical equipment to determine appropriate coverage and identify opportunities for redeployment
- Disposition – Establish clear guidelines for determining EOL and maximizing value from sale, trade-in, donation, or other relevant disposal option.
- In all aspects, the individual will work with physicians and other clinicians to understand current preferences, utilization and costs.
- Operational responsibility includes developing processes, policies, technologies, and aligning resources to ensure a complete capital asset management program for the IDN.
Strategic Development:
- Takes a lead role in the development and execution of HealthTrust Capital Equipment Services business direction and strategic plan for achievement.
- Must gain consensus from a wide-range of stakeholders, ranging from c-level executives to capital equipment buyers.
Communications:
- Leads all aspects of communications including both internal and external customers related to HealthTrust Capital Equipment Services.
- Communications will support ongoing engagement, education, and partnership with healthcare providers and suppliers to measurably
- improve Supply Chain Operations in Medical Capital Equipment for HCA and other HealthTrust members.
Execution:
- Must possess capabilities to ensure strategic vision can become a viable, value-based solution that is executable.
- Creates systems, processes, and decisions that make effective use of organizational resources and enhance operational efficiency.
- Establishes clear goals that align team’s efforts with the organizations vision. Ensures synergies between people, processes, and strategies to drive flawless execution of business objectives.
- Capitalizes on key market opportunities and ensures resources are wisely leveraged to maximize profit.
- Responsible for managing initiatives and teams in a dynamic, fast- paced work environment that demands strong capabilities to drive projects and initiatives without much guidance and deliver them to completion.
- Must exceed savings goals established annually
- Supervises: capital equipment directors (SLDs), and quote review analysts
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor’s Degree Required Master’s Degree a plus.
- 7+ year of related healthcare or industry experience, preferred experience specific to Medical Capital Equipment.
- Experience working in or directly with hospital facility a plus.
- Ability to travel 30-50%
- The successful candidate should have progressive leadership experience, excellent communication skills and in-dept and up-to-date knowledge of healthcare economics.
- Experience working across the total cost of ownership spectrum and driving impact in all areas suing a pilot approach.
- Obtains and maintains knowledge of current HealthTrust and HCA policies and practices, healthcare industry trends, managed care and reimbursement issues.
- Must possess strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan, implement, and execute. Must also possess the ability to focus and execute exceptional time management.
- Must demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills in listening and validation, tact, diplomacy, and presentations.
- Demonstrates a leadership presence and works effectively as a team member and team leader.
- Complete professionalism including the qualities of confidence, motivation, accountability, integrity, and humility.
- Effective skills in conflict management.
