A Day in the Life of the Plant Manager
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of a modern galvanizing facility, driving efficiency, safety, quality, and profitability. You'll work closely with the executive team while leading department heads across operations, production, sales, and more, all with the goal of keeping the facility running at peak performance.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead a culture of safety and enforce all health and safety protocols
- Provide strategic and operational direction across departments including production, engineering, finance, sales, and HR
- Manage daily operations and support all plant functions from purchasing to shipping
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
- Own full P&L responsibility and ensure accurate financial reporting
- Oversee performance metrics (KPIs) and implement continuous improvement strategies
- Direct and support sales strategies to meet revenue goals
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and industry standards
- Lead and support plant improvement initiatives and capital project execution
- Assist the executive team with special assignments as needed
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a Galvanizing environment, with increasing leadership responsibility
- Strong grasp of financial models, analysis, and operational cost structures
- Proven ability to interpret contracts, financial reports, technical documents, and regulations
- Experience with day-to-day operations and being hands-on with the team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable presenting at all levels
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Willingness to travel as needed, including to other company locations
