Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. In collaboration with other members of the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.
What you will do in this role:
- Demonstrates knowledge, skill and competence in the management of patients in the different stages of labor;ability to identify the normal physiologic adaptations that occur during each stage.
- Demonstrates knowledge, skill and competence in the management of patients with complications of pregnancy.
- Demonstrates knowledge, skill and competence in the management of high risk pregnancy patients.
- Clinical nursing practice reflects competency in: use of external and fetal monitors, use of Doppler, IV insertion and maintenance, vaginal examination, infant security, blood product administration, EMTALA screening, and sterile technique.
- Will accomplish and remain AWHONN certified: registered nurse with no experience-1 year after hire date /registered nurse with L&D experience-6 months after hire date.
- Demonstrates competency in the use of CPN system for documentation.
- Demonstrates competency in the management of immediate post partum patients.
- Demonstrates competency to circulate for cesarean sections in the OR.
- ·Responsible for completing educational requirements and complying with policies and procedures in regard to safety guidelines established by OSHA, JCAHO and other state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Consistently demonstrates the ability to provide appropriate services and care in accordance with the unique needs inherent to patient’s age and culture.
- Actively participates in solving problems on the unit to improve process issues as well as patient flow.
- Supports departmental and hospital performance improvement initiatives.
- Makes staff assignments based on patient acuity and staff skill levels
What qualifications you will need:
- Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program
- BSN preferred
- 1 year of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse in Womans Services
- Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
- NRP required within 6 months of hire
- AWHONN fetal monitoring course within 1 year of hire
