Job Description
Bulletproof is looking for a
Director of Contract Manufacturing with a strong CPG background to help us build a world-class company and grow our knowledge base.
The Director of Co-Manufacturing reports to the VP of Supply Chain and is responsible for managing the manufacturing strategy and contract manufacturers for Bulletproof’s finished good supply network. This person is the primary point of contact for the co-manufacturer relationships, which will include project management, short and long- term capacity planning, new item commercialization, continuous improvement, cost savings, key performance indicators and monthly scorecards. This role is highly cross functional and will interact with marketing, sales, R&D, finance, procurement, and production planning groups on a frequent basis. Key to success in this role will be adherence to budget, driving cost savings, preventing out of stocks and building strong relationships with our co-manufacturing partners. This position will be setting strategy and negotiating with external executive leaders as well as participate as a core team member internally on key projects to ensure manufacturing activities are timely and deliver best total economic value.
Key Responsibilities:
Co-Man Partnership Management
- Lead day-to-day and strategic relationships with all co-manufacturing partners across the Bulletproof portfolio
- Manage raw material commitments, liabilities and end of month inventory reconciliation if applicable.
- Facilitate weekly production calls to review schedules, resolve roadblocks, and align cross-functionally with Planning, Operations, Logistics, and Sourcing
- Run quarterly business reviews and manage co-man scorecards (OTIF, yield, quality, cost)
- Negotiate and renew MSAs, SOWs, MOQs, and pricing agreements; maintain a strong understanding of market capacity and cost dynamics to identify savings or quality improvement opportunities
- Partner with co-mans to identify and project manage mutually beneficial cost savings and efficiency initiatives
- Monitor tolling fees, yield loss, and variances; mitigate risk via dual sourcing, safety stock strategies, and network diversification
- Act as the internal advocate and subject matter expert on co-manufacturing—supporting Planning, Innovation, Quality, and Procurement initiatives
- Standardize ways of working across partners—including SOPs, production planning processes, and performance metrics
- Ensure all products, ship on time, and are produced within budget
- Leverage ERP tools (NetSuite) and Excel to manage planning cycles and data-driven decision-making
Commercialization & Product Transfers
- Serve as Supply Chain lead for fast-track product launches and coordinate efforts within Supply Chain.
- Support early-stage product development with clear production feasibility, co-man alignment, and launch timelines
- Own scale-up and transition plans between co-manufacturers to protect supply continuity and margin
- Coordinate first production runs across QA, Raw Materials, and Planning to ensure readiness
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Food Science, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or Ops roles, ideally in food & beverage, CPG, or dietary supplement industries.
- 5+ years of experience negotiating supplier contracts and driving cost savings.
- 5+ years of experience managing and developing teams.
- High degree of business ethics, financial accountability, and a strong track record in supplier relationship management.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in ERP and Excel.
Additional Information
Annual base salary gross: $130,000 - $150,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package for employees.
