Manufacturing Manager

A private/family-owned and growing manufacturer of industrial liquid filtration systems is seeking an experienced and hands-on Manufacturing Manager to join their team in Ann Arbor. This is a new position, created because of company growth. This role will help them streamline operations, improve production efficiency, and ensure the highest standards of quality.
Job Overview:
The Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the production process including welding, engineering, shipping & warehousing. This includes managing a team of employees, ensuring that manufacturing schedules are met, optimizing production processes, and maintaining high standards of product quality and safety. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing, excellent leadership & communication skills, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Planning and Scheduling: Oversee daily manufacturing operations and ensure production schedules are met efficiently and on time. Manage the allocation of resources, labor, and equipment to meet production demands.
- Team Management: Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of production staff, including setting goals, providing training, conducting performance reviews, and fostering a positive work environment.
- Process Optimization: Continuously monitor and evaluate production processes to identify inefficiencies, recommend improvements, and implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve productivity.
- Quality Control: Ensure products meet quality standards and that all production processes comply with regulatory requirements. Troubleshoot quality issues and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Inventory Management: Oversee raw material inventory levels and ensure that supplies are replenished as needed to prevent production delays. Work closely with the supply chain team to optimize material usage and storage.
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce health, safety, and environmental standards in the manufacturing facility. Ensure that all team members adhere to safety protocols and that the workplace remains safe and compliant with relevant regulations.
- Budgeting and Cost Management: Assist in developing and managing the manufacturing budget. Track production costs and work to reduce overheads without compromising product quality.
- Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with sales to ensure that production aligns with customer demand and delivery schedules.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Address any technical or operational issues that arise during production and provide solutions to minimize downtime.
Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of experience in manufacturing/production management.
- Proven experience leading teams and effectively managing personnel. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
- Strong understanding of production processes and manufacturing systems.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
- Proficient in manufacturing software and tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in a manufacturing environment with some exposure to noise and machinery.
