Job Title: Quality Engineer

Shift: Monday- Friday
Purpose:
Responsible for monitoring product quality throughout all stages of the production process. Works will all departments to ensure customer satisfaction. Follow accepted policies and procedures to ensure a robust Quality Management System is maintained.
General Duties:
- Requires substantial physical activity throughout shift (except breaks and lunch) such as walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, handling, near/far vision, pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting objects weighing 50 lbs
- Responsible for creating PPAP submissions, control plans, inspection standards, APQP documentation, FMEA, process flow, and additional quality related documentation
- Works directly with other departments to determine process and equipment parameters
- Conducts analysis, using engineering and statistical methodologies, in the development of new, revised and refined process enhancements; renders technical expertise and assistance to operators; develops sound operating practices and procedures for assigned area
- Ensures that customer’s quality requirements are met and monitored on a regular basis
- Supports corrective and preventative actions for internal and external quality issues
- Contributes to the continuous improvement process of the QMS
- Conducts internal and external quality audits as needed on-site and at off-site locations
- Performs other duties as required
- Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
Skills:
- Ability to read a detailed drawing, GD&T experience a plus
- Must be proficient in basic computer programs (Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Must understand basic Problem solving methods
- Working knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and Part Submission Warrants
- Observes OSHA, EPA, and Company rules and regulations concerning safety
- Good communication skills with at all levels of the company
- Ability to multi-task under tight timelines
- Able to travel off site to assist at customer locations as needed
- Requires working in temperature extremes
- Assists in Kaizen implementation and 5S
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering and/or five years of experience, preferred in the automotive industry (preferable in aluminum forging and casting). Experience will be considered in lieu of degree. ASQ certification a plus
- Knowledge of statistical analysis, precision measurement, process validation, supplier quality, product testing, training and development, process capability studies, good verbal and written skills
