About The Role
As Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, leading a cross-functional team, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you’ll provide coaching, assign work, track performance metrics, and foster a safe, high-performing work culture.
What You’ll Do
🔒 Safety Leadership
- Champion a safe work environment by identifying and mitigating risks
- Conduct weekly toolbox talks and ensure compliance with OSHA standards
🏭 Production Oversight
- Manage production schedules and resources to meet daily output targets
- Lead pre-shift planning and post-shift performance updates to leadership
📊 Performance & KPIs
- Monitor key metrics including earned ratios and efficiency benchmarks
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity
🎓 Training & Development
- Support cross-training efforts to build workforce versatility
- Track and manage employee training progress
🔧 Facility & Equipment Management
- Conduct regular equipment inspections and coordinate timely maintenance
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized production floor
📣 Communication
- Lead daily huddles and post hourly performance data
- Coordinate with scheduling, materials, HR, and engineering teams
- Provide real-time feedback and performance summaries
🧭 Leadership & Culture
- Enforce company policies and standards consistently
- Conduct employee performance reviews and develop growth plans
- Maintain detailed records of production, performance, and equipment
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure team safety and risk reduction
- Plan and assign staffing based on production needs
- Investigate material non-compliance and drive corrective actions
- Monitor overtime needs and address production issues proactively
- Audit quality, safety, productivity, and material flow
- Maintain accurate attendance and clock-in records
- Keep leadership informed with daily updates and metrics
What You Bring To The Table
✅ Minimum
5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing setting (preferably sheet metal fabrication or machining)
✅ Familiarity with
Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement practices
✅ Solid understanding of
manufacturing, assembly, and mechanical processes
✅ Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to coach and mentor teams
✅ Comfortable enforcing policies while remaining fair and communicative
✅ Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications
✅ Data-driven mindset with the ability to conduct root cause analysis
