Summary
The person who fills this role maintains a plant-wide quality system which complies with generally accepted quality standards as well as key customer requirements; coordinates all traffic requirements related to shipment of finished goods as well as raw materials; maintains inventory of raw material, work-in-process and finish goods; evaluates shipping and receiving processes for effectiveness and opportunities for improvement; accountable for the delivery of a quality product to customers while meeting time and delivery requirements; works daily to ensure assigned areas of responsibility are working at risk lowered to ALARA specifically in an effort to achieve ZERO HARM; and coordinates activities of all members of the Shipping Department. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Quality Assurance (60%)
- Performs quality assurance insuring that quality exceeds customers' expectations
- Assures products produced are in compliance to and exceeds ASTM standards
- Develops procedures for the elimination of internal and external quality problems assuring good customer relations
- Communicates to all levels of management current quality status, trends, problem areas and procedures as needed
- Maintains and coordinates all DOT requirements.
- Keeps all testing equipment in good working order
- Attends daily supervisor meeting
- Participates in quarterly inventories
- Implements and manages a controlled documentation system of product specification and operating procedures
Shipping (40%)
- Stages and loads product for shipment.
- Maintains accurate finished goods inventories by supervising the performance of cycle counts as well as complete physical inventories as appropriate or otherwise scheduled by management.
- Motivates and directs others in a team environment as well as performs duties related to supervision of individuals assigned to the Shipping Departments.
- Works closely with sales, scheduling and operations to meet customers’ delivery requirements.
- Ensures final product and package meet appropriate DOT, customer and company requirements.
- Evaluates methods and means of storage to ensure that there is efficient utilization of storage area for raw materials and finished goods.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Directly supervises employees in the Shipping Department. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, checking, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; costs; establishing standards of performance; maintaining quality standards; maintaining quantity standards; and carrying out established policy. Suggestions and recommendations as to hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or other status changes of supervised employees is given particular weight.
Indirectly supervises production employees (approx. 30) in plant facility as related to quality and training issues.
Indirect supervisory responsibilities include checking work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; costs; operation methods; establishing standards of performance; maintaining quality standards; maintaining quantity standards; interpreting/shaping policy; and carry out established policy.

EDUCATION And EXPERIENCE
The education requirements and experience requirement listed here indicate the minimum basic educational knowledge and minimum previous work-related experience required by the job duties of the position.
Education:
Professional, technical or administrative training (2-year Associate Degree); including knowledge of quality assurance or knowledge of work-related manufacturing methods and techniques.
Experience:
A Minimum Of 3 Years Work-related Experience Is Required.
An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.
