Summary/Objective
As a member of the Stellar Energy Quality Team, The Quality Manufacturing Director leads the Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) departments to ensure product quality through root cause problem solving, process improvements, and data analytics, while supporting the existing QMS infrastructure managed by the QMS Director. This role drives a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging metrics and analytics to enhance manufacturing performance and compliance.
Essential Functions
- Direct QC/QA teams in identifying and resolving quality issues using tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone, and 8D. Implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
- Optimize inspection and testing protocols to enhance defect detection and reduce cycle times. Introduce automated inspection technologies and standardize workflows to improve consistency.
- Develop and refine QA processes to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean methodologies, to streamline quality assurance audits and documentation.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering to integrate process enhancements, reducing variability and improving product reliability.
- Define and track QC-specific KPIs, such as first-pass yield, scrap rates, and inspection accuracy. Use statistical process control (SPC) to monitor real-time production quality and identify trends.
- Monitor QA metrics, including audit pass rates, non-conformance resolution times, and customer complaint trends. Leverage data to ensure compliance and drive process improvements.
- Utilize advanced analytics tools (e.g., Minitab, Power BI) to consolidate QC/QA data, generate predictive insights, and support decision-making.
- Present data-driven reports to leadership to align quality strategies with business goals.
- Oversee QC inspection, testing, and validation processes, and ensure QA compliance with standards. Support QMS audits and documentation under QMS Director guidance.
- Lead and mentor QC/QA teams, fostering a data-driven, quality-focused culture. Align department goals with organizational objectives.
- Act as point of contact for external customers and suppliers, addressing inquiries, complaints, and surveys.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the QMS and support Stellar Energy’s sustainability and operational goals.
- Maintain good interface with other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of quality and compliance processes.

Supervisory Responsibility
The position is responsible to manage and direct Quality Control and Quality Assurance Departments.
Work Environment
Most work is performed in an office environment. Regular trips to the Fabrication Shop for observation and support may be necessary which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory head protection.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must also be able to climb a ladder.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Travel
Anticipated 25% travel for this position. Some occasional local day travel may also be necessary.
Required Education And Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or related discipline, from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in industrial QA/QC or similar projects working experience.
- Expertise in root cause analysis, Lean, Six Sigma, and statistical process control.
- Proficiency with quality system, process control, PFMEA, etc.
- Knowledge of QMS standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and industry regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
