Leads and manages operational improvement projects throughout the organization including both clinical and non-clinical areas to accomplish measurable business process improvements. Work assignments are typically more complex and larger in scope. Analyzes and measures the effectiveness of existing processes and develops sustainable, repeatable, and quantifiable clinical and business process improvements. Collects and analyzes process and/or quality data to initiate, develop, and recommend operational practices and procedures that focus on enhanced safety, increased productivity, and reduced cost. This position will maintain accountability for the integrity and functioning of databases. Will collect, enter and analyze data in a secure and confidential manner within the constructs of the specialty program. Provides support of the program through the monitoring and analyzing of data as well as presentation of finding to key stakeholders. Serves as the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Clinical Reviewer (MBSCR) and is responsible for abstracting 100% of metabolic and bariatric cases performed at each facility and entering data into the MBSAQIP data registry. The MBSCR is also required to pass an annual exam and must comply with MBSAQIP standards. Services will include but are not limited to: Abstracting 100% of metabolic and bariatric cases performed at the site and entering that data into the MBSAQIP registry. Pass an annual MSBAQIP examination. Comply with MSAQIP standards. Be present for and actively participate in each site’s MSBAQIP accreditation site visit. Participate in MBS Committee meetings – at least two meetings annually, one of which must be the annual comprehensive review meeting. Responsible for the comprehensive bariatric program and monitoring of clinic services to ensure standards are met. Assists with program development, patient, and staff education, ongoing BSCOE compliance and multidisciplinary team meetings. Liaison between the hospital and surgical practices. Coordinates and evaluates the program to maintain continuity and quality; assesses learning needs of patients, families, and staff; oversees the clinic and education program process. Maintains quality and productivity standards. Services will include but are not limited to: Assists and works directly with the MBS Director. Evaluates and coordinates the program to maintain continuity and quality. Serves as a liaison between Corewell Health East hospitals and MBSAQIP. Administrates the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery meeting and must be in attendance, one of which must be the annual comprehensive review meeting. Assists in program development. Manages the accreditation process. Ensures continuous compliance with MBSAQIP Standards. Maintains relevant pathways and protocols. Maintains and evaluates patient and staff education. Monitors quality improvement initiatives. Monitors the support groups for the program. Site Coordinator for MBSC and ASMBS with the suggestion of off-site meeting attendance. Supports the development of written protocols and education of nursing staff detailing the rapid communication and basic response to critical patient findings that are specifically required to minimize delays in the diagnosis and treatment of adverse events. Serves as the liaison between the facility and all bariatric proceduralists and general surgeons at Corewell Health East hospitals. Maintains documentation of meetings and conferences. Ensures access to the call schedule to all departments caring for the bariatric patients. Must work closely with the Metabolic and Bariatric Clinical Reviewer (MBSCR) to ensure timely submission of outcomes data to the MBSAQIP Registry. Must be present and actively participate in each MBSAQIP site visit. Supports and drives improvement activities for accountable areas based on organizational priorities (project management, measurable deliverables, milestones, and data informed strategy). Serves as a liaison between various departments across the Corewell Health System. Communicates, collaborates, networks with and acts as a change agent to key stakeholders. Also ensures continuity and coordination of services with appropriate utilization of resources. Responsible for stakeholder management across collaboration within dept and organizational resources. Drives continuous assessment and improvements using appropriate tools and methodology within the business, assists stakeholders and process owners in prioritizing improvement opportunities. Utilizes clinical judgment to coordinate the retrieval of pertinent clinical and regulatory data ensuring timely submission to meet program requirements. Collaborates with internal and external programming staff to maintain the integrity, functioning and ongoing maintenance of databases. Maintains understanding of Quality rules and regulations for The Joint Commission and CMS.
