Under limited supervision, performs a variety of clerical activities to support practice operations including customer service, managing telephone calls, scheduling, registration, and copay collections. Education required is High School or GED equivalency. Requires 6 months of related experience. Skills needed include customer service skills, knowledge of medical terminology (preferred), skill in written and oral communication, ability to perform non-complex arithmetic calculations, ability to organize and prioritize tasks, and ability to manage multiple tasks and phone volume simultaneously. Physical requirements include ability to sit, stand, walk and pay close attention to detail. Working conditions are a normal office environment with little exposure to noise, dust, and the like. Duties include receiving and screening visitors and telephone calls, responding to general inquiries, providing customer service to patients, scheduling patient appointments, performing data entry of patient demographic information and insurance, verifying insurance information, assisting patients with registering for MyChart, managing high volume of telephone calls, generating telephone encounters, addressing telephone messages, performing pre-registration and confirmation of patient appointments, checking in patients, verifying insurance, collecting and scanning identification and insurance cards, managing referral work queues, managing incoming faxes, scanning incoming medical records, addressing and responding to In Basket messages, responding to EPIC Secure chats, collecting patient co-payments and reconciling monies, assisting with scheduling diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, obtaining referrals and preauthorization for procedures, and other duties as assigned.
