Description
Provide leadership and supervision of all manufacturing employees to facilitate teamwork between the two shifts and enhance departmental productivity and efficiency
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate communication across and within production shifts to include setup and daily operation of machining and finishing departments
- Support the team leads to implement training for personnel.
- Document all training for personnel.
- Improve overall first time quality.
- Recommends and directs personnel activities of the department, such as hiring, scheduling, performance evaluation and salary adjustments.
- Responsible for ensuring team objectives are met and making appropriate adjustments and/or recommendations to meet changes in demand.
- Support the team leads to balance labor availability and volume requirements throughout the department.
- Develop and implement short-range (1-3 months) staffing plans and / or other gap closing actions based on productivity objectives and forecasted volume requirements.
- Assist Manufacturing Engineers in product and process development as needed
- Monitor daily and weekly performance of employees; production and quality using MFG/PRO and/or other methods.
- Plan and issue work orders according to the Master Scheduler or as advised by the Materials Management department. Work with planning to schedule monthly requirements
- Ensure all safety policies and procedures are implemented and observed, and that equipment, and work areas are neat, clean, and well organized.
- Assist in the development, implementation and adherence to all departmental SOP’s and Work Instructions.
- Document and report any process deviations to Machining Operations Manager.
- Assist with FDA and ISO Audits.
- Assist and support other employees, teams, and sales personnel as necessary
- Know and apply the Quality System and any appropriate Federal and International
standards
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Education:- High School Diploma or GED required. Associate and/or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution preferred
Experience:- 3 years related experience
- 3 years supervisory experience
- Supervisory experience in machining and finishing, or other equivalent manufacturing experience.
- Machining or finishing experience with cobalt chrome, titanium, polyethylene product or similar products is a plus.
- Some experience with high polish, blast finishes and burring of metal components desirable
- Strong leadership abilities demonstrated in current position.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills are required.
- Strong computer skills required.
