We are a consumer business operating online and in our over 20 retail stores (DC, NYC, Boston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago) – and growing. We operate two manufacturing facilities in Lexington, KY and Winchester, VA that allow us to deliver a high-quality custom product at an affordable price with a quick turnaround. We exist, grow, and ultimately own the market by delighting customers who trust and value us.
WHAT WE DO (that you’ll lead!):
At our manufacturing studio, our team is responsible for creating and assembling customer orders from our Retail stores and online business. These may include beautiful pieces of timeless art, mounting a piece of clothing or a tapestry, or framing an unforgettable photo from an unforgettable moment. Our team processes the orders from custom technology, measures all the inputs to the highest quality, and cuts, mounts and frames the art with pristine perfection. We are detail-oriented craftsmen and makers who work with our hands all day to ensure our customers’ prized possessions are taken care of and that the end product surpasses expectations.
Who You Are
Our Plant Managers own all aspects of the plant operation, including production, maintenance, shipping and receiving and quality control. Responsibilities include hiring, leading, and developing great team members, as well as setting, attaining, and continuously improving upon production goals, output, and quality. Our Plant Managers build great teams and processes in order to meet our promise to deliver the most beautiful and convenient custom framed artwork to our customers across the country. We are looking for leaders who are great at creating high performing, high energy, high functioning facilities. As the plant manager, the buck stops with you. When there are opportunities for improvement you will be expected to identify, lead, and deliver continuous improvement projects while maintaining our production and delivery goals.
What You Will Be Doing
Operations & Performance Excellence:
- Lead the plant in setting, meeting, and exceeding goals in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Meet or exceed budgetary plans for the Henderson, NV location.
- Identify and drive the elimination of waste through the rigorous application of Lean methodologies.
- Lead Kaizen events, drive root cause analysis, and establish and maintain best practices for shop floor leadership.
- Implement and continuously enhance preventative and predictive maintenance routines to maximize equipment uptime.
Strategic Leadership & Financial Acumen
- Develop and execute the plant's annual operating and capital budgets in alignment with company-wide strategic objectives.
- Identify, justify, and manage capital projects to improve safety, capacity, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with retail and supply chain teams to ensure production aligns with customer needs and new product introductions.
Team Leadership & Culture
- Develop a performance-based culture while building a respectful and welcoming space for our team members.
- Foster an environment of open two-way communication and actively drive employee engagement.
- Champion talent development; mentor and coach direct reports and high-potential employees to build a strong succession pipeline.
- Oversee a robust performance management system, providing regular and constructive feedback.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations issued by OSHA, EPA, EEO, and other federal, state, and local agencies.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree - in Business, Industrial Management, or Engineering.
- 7 - 10 years in plant leadership or demonstrated track record of taking on continuously more responsibility within a large manufacturing facility and can show you are ready for that next step.
- Demonstrable experience in introducing and sustaining Lean, Six Sigma, or Lean Six Sigma culture and methodologies.
- Experience in managing and owning a P&L statement, including justifying and planning CAPX projects.
- Experience in low volume, high-mix manufacturing environments on a large scale, including artisanal handwork and craftsmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified as a Lean Master, or Six Sigma Black Belt.
- Proficiency leading a diverse manufacturing environment, ideally with
- Experience in a fast-paced, quickly growing DTC business.
