Job Summary:
The Cottonwood Generating Station is a 1,280MW Combined Cycle power generation facility with four GE 7FA 1x1 units. Cottonwood is asset managed by Kindle Energy as part of the Pelican Power LLC power generation portfolio.
The Plant Manager will oversee all aspects of Plant Operation and Maintenance, including P&L responsibility and be responsible for supporting and executing Gas Plant Strategy in a dynamic financial climate. The Plant Manager will also be responsible for maintaining competent, well-trained staff, plant safety, training, environmental compliance, policy administration, as well as have purchasing authority for required materials and services. It is critical that Plant Manager develop and maintain good relationships with customers and the community.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support and emphasize the importance of safety and environmental programs and ensure regulatory compliance
- Promote productivity and teamwork with open communication, timely decision making, and use of leadership skills to set high standards of performance, while providing the direction necessary to achieve performance
- Promote and support the development of technical leadership and business skills of employees to carry out responsibilities in a competitive environment
- Responsible for communications to Kindle management and site owners
- Provide regular feedback to employees on their performance to allow them to capitalize on their strengths and focus on opportunities for improvement
- Create and support an organizational culture that encourages and rewards employee involvement, innovative thinking, adaptation to change, responsible risk taking, customer focus, and continuous improvement
- Manage and support budget development, adherence and projections
- Manage and support compliance to regulatory standards
- Formulate appropriate strategies which supports the overall Kindle strategy and manages development, implementation and execution of assigned area goals, objectives, and initiatives
- Manage all business aspects of assigned area to maximize the competitive position of the plant including operational performance, staff development and cost management
- Review organizational performance with constituents and addresses opportunities for improvement on a regular basis
- Manage, as necessary, the evaluation and selection of external service providers
- Manage work performed by external service providers in support of organizational objectives and responsibilities
- Assign work and hold employees accountable for their performance
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with organizations external to the plant
- Ensure that appropriate technical expertise related to assigned area of responsibility is available and provided to constituents in a timely manner
- Manage development and execution of appropriate standards, guidelines, programs, and procedures within assigned area of responsibility
- Ensure a safe and environmentally compliant workplace
- Must be able to effectively interface with regulatory, political, business, civic and public representatives consistent with Kindle corporate objectives
Working Conditions:
- Work from both a customary office setting and power plant environment.
- Requires operation of a motor vehicle and valid Texas Driver’s License
- Work outside of standard working hours as required
- Requires occasional travel outside the service area
- Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
- May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals
- Requires operation of a personal computer
- Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university, and 10 years of equivalent experience in a related technical field; OR a minimum of 14 years’ experience in a related technical field
- Demonstrated record of successfully leading/supervising employees in a related field
- Knowledge of Human Resources, Labor and Employee Relations
