This entry-level classification focuses on performing a wide variety of simple clerical and/or keyboarding tasks and related work as required. Under immediate supervision, incumbents perform routine clerical duties such as filing, mail sorting, office organization work, and typing/keyboarding. They exercise infrequent discretionary authority with frequent supervision and instructions and have frequent access to confidential information.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs keyboarding functions
- Opens, sorts, routes, delivers, stuff, seals, weighs, and sends out mail
- Sorts alphabetize and maintain physical and/or electronic filing system files
- Answers telephones, takes messages, provides information, and refers inquiries to the appropriate locations
- Operates modern office equipment such as personal computers, copy machines, fax machines, telephones, calculators, and scanners. May use department-specific computer programs to enter data, maintain records, or other simple routine tasks
- Provides responsive, high-quality customer service to Department and County employees, representatives of outside agencies, and members of the public by providing accurate, complete, and up-to-date information, in a courteous, efficient, and timely manner
